Six week pottery class (Tuesday April 1, 2025 through Tuesday May 6, 2025 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM)

The cost of the six-week class is $345, which includes all materials and firing fees. Throughout the course, you will learn basic throwing techniques, trimming, finishing a pot, and fundamental glazing skills. By the end of the class, you can expect to complete 6 to 8 small pieces, depending on your skill level. Hand-building is not covered.

Week one: Introduction to the studio and its equipment, along with an overview of the potters wheel, including the fundamentals of centering clay and raising the walls of a cylinder.

Week two: Continuing mastering the fundamentals of wheel throwing, focusing on the relationship between form and function, with the goal of creating a small cylinder.

Week Three: Introduction to Finishing Your Pot – Learn how to trim, add a foot ring, and prepare your piece for bisque firing

Week Four: Continuing to Master Centering – Focus on refining your centering skills with the goal of creating a cylinder, laying the foundation for making a mug next week.

Week Five: Final Trimming & Mug Making – Prepare all pieces for final trimming, create and attach handles to cylinders to form mugs. Ensure all work is completed and ready for bisque firing.

Week Six: Introduction to Glazing – Learn the fundamentals of glazing your pottery, including waxing the bottoms to prevent sticking to the kiln shelf and selecting glaze combinations. All pots will be fired and ready for pickup within two weeks of class completion. Any unclaimed pieces left for over a month will be discarded.
